  • Can we forgive the E-M1 for its flaws? You betcha! Just as with the E-M5, the interface curiosities simply aren't sufficiently annoying to detract from the overall experience of the E-M1 which is, quite simply, a hugely enjoyable and rewarding one. It's a ...

  • Strong build quality, Excellent controls, Excellent image quality, Fast performance
  • Shutter button too squishy for our liking, Some noticeable LCD and EVF flickering under fluro lights
  • The OM-D E-M1 takes over as the flagship camera for Olympus. It's a Micro Four Thirds-based camera with a stack of features that's aimed at those of you who want more of a 'pro' feel from a compact system camera. We love it...

  • Small camera body, Plenty of direct controls, Excellent EVF, High quality images, Weather sealed
  • LCD not variangle, Some features hard to find, High price
  • Happily the E-M1 isn't all style and no substance. It also delivers high quality, correctly exposed images with plenty of detail, good colour and well-controlled noise. The images look natural and sharp and although there is noise visible at relatively l...

  • This is the first mirrorless camera serious enough that a DSLR-less future is conceivable. The images you get out of the E-M1 are so hot it hurts. If you want a camera for serious business in all situations — daylight, low-light and even no-light — then t...

  • We tested the E-M1 with the new 12-40mm constant aperture f2.8 Pro lens, which in itself is a masterpiece of mechanics and optics. Focus is lightning fast and images are excellent for sharpness, resolution and colour fidelity. The camera feels like a unit costing several thousand dollars more.
  • We tried to find fault, but there is nothing we dislike about the EM1
  • From time to time a camera comes along that sets new standards. Nikon's D800, Canon's 5D MkII, and the Olympus OM-D E-M5 all raised the bar at the time of their release. The E-M1 does it again. It is priced against the mid-range DSLRs from other makers bu...

  • Owners of Olympus OM-D EM-5 bodies will rightly see the E-M1 as a worthwhile upgrade option and/or extension to their existing kit – provided they are happy about its higher price tag. The new camera has just enough improvements entice many stills photogr...

  • The OM-D E-M1 is a serious investment, but if you want the experience of a professional camera without the bulk and weight a DSLR, then you should absolutely pick it up. Nothing else offers the same level of ergonomics, customisability and durability thus...

  • Substantial hand grip. In-camera processing options like HDR and colour control are very effective. Focus peaking. Very sharp images straight out of camera. Incredibly rugged design
  • Fidgety autofocus in low light. Locking mode dial takes some getting used to. Only 30fps in video mode
  • Even though it is a serious camera for enthusiast photographers, the OM-D E-M1 nevertheless brings a lot of fun to the imaging experience....
