Solid hardware, Doesn't rely on Bluetooth, Solid battery life
Too expensive, Limited compatibility and app selection
Samsung Gear S We're still somewhat skeptical of wearable computing. It's a cool concept, but continues to lack obvious practicality. The number of people who would find a smartwatch as necessary as a smartphone is going to be pretty low, and the Samsu...
Works as a standalone phone, Colorful AMOLED display, Decent battery life, Comes with a cradle that's also a portable charger
Still needs a phone for activation and loading apps, Limited app selection, Bulky design with proprietary wrist straps, Expensive
The Samsung Gear S is a smartwatch that's also a phone. But it still needs a phone -- and a Samsung phone, at that -- to be of any use. That, combined with its bulky design, small app selection and $350 asking price, makes the Gear S difficult to recomme...
Receives calls, text messages and notifications without a phone nearby, Battery life is better than most full-color smartwatches
Large, clunky design with annoying clasp and snap-on charger, Expensive up-front price with an additional monthly cost for wireless service, Contacts won't recognize your number for outgoing calls, Interface is confusing, inconsistent and lacking in actio
The Samsung Gear S smartwatch breaks new ground with phone-free communications, but makes too many compromises. With a high up-front price and monthly service charge, buy at your own risk....
How much does a smartwatch really need to do?The Gear S is an incredibly interesting device that really pushes the boundaries of what can be done with a smartwatch today. It's quite a feat to see something in a watch-like form factor with a 2-inch display...

The Samsung Gear S has a big, bright curved display, decent battery life, comes with its own bonus battery pack and can stay connected away from a phone with its own 3G data or Wi-Fi. It's attractive, albeit rather large. It's a complete on-wrist phone
It still requires a recent Samsung phone to pair with and install apps, and its standalone features don't work with all apps and notifications. The Gear app library is still weak compared with Android Wear
The wildly ambitious Samsung Gear S smartwatch doubles as a full standalone smartphone, but the software and apps available don't let it do as much as you'd expect....

Nutzo battery life. The Gear S's 300 mAh battery isn't even big by smartwatch standards and still I was able to get a whole two days out of it in one stretch, and on the night in-between I was even using it for sleep tracking. This should be the baseline
Ugh, it's so big and ugly and unhip. It's vitally important to be able to wear a smartwatch without being uncomfortable, physically or mentally. Wearing the Gear S made me uncomfortable in both ways. When I wore it for sleep tracking, it kept feeling like
No. Theres a lot you could potentially do with a watch that has its own data connection, but the Gear S doesnt do those things. And the Gear S is big and ugly in order to shove in that limited functionality. The trade-off just isnt worth it. Connectivi...
Zusammenfassung: Samsung is known for using lots of hopelessly cheesy gimmicks to promote its products, including making its own unboxing videos for them, conducting its own consumer surveys about them and putting them through i ts own in-house drop tests . Now Samsung ha...

Good looking, comfortable curve, does more than Android Wear watches
Battery life, requires a Samsung Android phone
The Samsung Gear S is a definite step forward, but smartwatches and wearables are still in their grade school years. They Gear S is the most attractive Samsung smartwatch yet, and it can even hang with the more traditionally designed Moto 360. But it's st...
