  • AMD has knocked it out of the park with the 2990WX as a low cost and high performance workstation part. We would say that AMD is poised to take the "low end" workstation market, but there is not actually a "low end" market in workstations at the performan...

  • It's not going to be difficult summing this one up. Without question, AMD is offering an unbelievable chip with the Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX. I'm still surprised that it even exists, more than most, it seems. I just couldn't see AMD literally doubling th...

  • Strong Multi-Threaded Performance, Zen+ Enhancements, Easy Performance Boost With PBO, Mature Platform, Maintains Compatibility With Existing Mobos, Competitive Pricing
  • 2990WX Falters With Some Workloads, Single Thread Perf Still Trails Intel Overall
  • The Threadripper 2990WX's performance proposition, however, differs depending on the use case. In compute intensive, multi-threaded workloads like those associated with content creation, the 32-core / 64-thread Threadripper 2990WX is an absolute beast. In...

  • Expensive platform
  • Ryzen Threadripper 2950X builds on all of the goodness offered by AMD's first-gen Ryzen Threadripper processors, addressing some of our concerns in the process. If you're looking to upgrade from an older CPU to an all-around crowd pleaser, Threadrippe...

  • You know, I like the 2950X over the 2990WX. That 32-core part requires serious workloads and the software to support it. Anything with 8 up-to 16 cores are plenty sufficient of course and, with the 2950X, AMD manages to boost four threads to 4.4 GHz as we...

  • The 2990WX is a beastly CPU capable of breaking records on rendering tasks. Other processes that can utilize many cores but are not memory intensive could benefit from the 2990WX
  • Memory bandwidth issues result in inconsistent performance on a variety of tasks. Very expensive. Potentially a onetrick pony that does one thing really, really well, but the others not so much (for the price)
